Villa 39 South Shores Normanville

What a surprise it was to enter South Shores at the end of a private road off Main South Road and then to be confronted by a security gate. After entering the code, the gates wheeled back to reveal a pleasant community of holiday houses.

We drive through a well-tended parkland, passed the large swimming pool to Villa #39 and its undercover car parking.

Our holiday home had 3 large bedrooms down-stairs, and a spacious upper floor living area which included a well-equipped kitchen, dining and lounge area. The master bedroom has a generous ensuite, while the other 2 bedroom shared a family sized bathroom and toilet.

Private Normanville Beach Sand Dunes Views

At the rear of the ground floor is a private balcony off the master bedroom, while upstairs there is a generously sized balcony with a family-sized outdoor dining table as well as the Webber BBQ. The balcony faces west over a private view of the Normanville Beach sand dunes. This was our favourite evening retreat. An ideal location for evening meals while enjoying the beautiful sunsets and listening to the native birds settling in for the evening.

In the morning we ventured out to the concrete boardwalk, a 5-minute walk to the sandy Normanville Beach.  Heading north we quickly arrived at the Normanville jetty and kiosk who make exceptional coffee.

Lady Links Golf Course across the road

As golfing tragics, we had to try out the Lady Bay Links Golf course, only 200 meters from the Villa on the other side of South Road. The Links course is challenging with sand traps located in the most inconvenient spots. Fortunately. there are very few trees and the fairways are generally wide, which was merciful for this very ordinary golfer.  After beer or two at the 19th hole, my appalling score was soon forgotten.  Lady Bay also offers a lovely casual restaurant.

Back at Villa 39, we indulged in the complimentary Netflix and Stan before enjoying another sunset over the dunes.

Onsite activities and local attractions

South Shores is an idyllic, secure location, with a range of facilities and activities onsite and nearby. We were surprised how short the trip from Adelaide was which gave us more time to enjoy our holidays, rather than driving for several hours. We are planning to return soon.
